Have You Considered Your Cool-Weather Stockings This Fall?
October 29 2015 – Vashti Lehrle
Stockings are a year-round staple, of course, for all those who wear skirts or dresses, but the question is, have you considered specific stockings to go with your fall wardrobe? You really should because there are so many options for a thicker stocking that will keep you warmer during the winter months.
For example, a thicker, opaque stocking is one to definitely consider as they come in vibrant colours and many, fun patterns that can add a new hue or whimsy to an outfit. These are stockings that have a denier of 30, 50 or even 100 – a higher denier representing a thicker stocking. While some women view these thicker looks to be like a leotard, fashion would not agree as we see them constantly parading down the catwalk for the fall and winter seasons.
Also remember that higher denier stockings work with those fancy, designer shoes of yours. Shoes tend to pop against a thicker, more opaque stocking – these stockings aren’t just for wearing with boots anymore.
Stay-Ups that Really Do Stay Up!
Also, consider adding some stay-ups to your wardrobe. These products have come a long way recently and when they say “stay-up” they really do, in fact, stay up, often due to a ribbon of silicone on the thigh. And best of all, getting two pairs of stay-ups is like getting three pairs of regular stockings as you can replace a stocking with a run.
One brand of stockings we highly recommend is the Italian Philippe Matignon. We at Secret Drawers Lingerie have carried this brand for 20 years and we love it. It never fails to produce classic and fun looks in a range of denier from a thin 13, to a completely opaque 100. Philippe Matignon has also mastered the art of a quality stay-up stocking.
